El 21 de junio se celebra en Bolivia el Año Nuevo Andino Amazónico y del Chaco, durante el solsticio o “Willka Kuti”, también conocido como “retorno del Sol” o “Año Nuevo Andino”. La celebración se caracteriza por los rituales ancestrales que se realizan en la madrugada del 21 de junio.
El solsticio es celebrado en lugares sagrados cercanos a los denominados “Apus” and “Achachilas”. Los cuales según la creencia Aymara, son los espíritus que personifican las montañas y cerros, lugares de energía espiritual, considerados protectores de los pueblos y territorios.
La víspera del “Willka Kuti” se caracteriza por una fría noche de invierno, que unen a la comunidad entre saberes música y baile, donde los momentos previos al alba invitan a la reflexión, agradecimiento y a la necesidad de recordar nuestra conexión con las raíces ancestrales
El ritual es acompañado con la degustación del “Apthapi”, que es una celebración colectiva en la que se comparten alimentos y saberes. El nombre deriva del verbo aymara “Aphtapiña”, que significa traer, ya que la celebración supone que cada asistente lleve un alimento para compartir con su comunidad.
